I remember with great fondness games of snooker every Friday night at The Stute (sometimes 5 on each team on one table) when I was 12 or 13 years of age. I really loved the tuck shop, fantastic mix up for 10p. I'm sure I wouldn't get many sweets for 10p these days!
I now live up in Hull and make only brief visits to Earl Shilton to visit my Mum and Dad with my wife and two children. This is what I'm up to these days -

My maternal grandparents lived in Tubb Row on Station Road, and our weekly visit on Saturdays always included a walk up to The Hollow to Wightman's grocery shop. My enduring memory on passing The Stute was the emergence of the football team, kitted up and on their way to play at the cricket ground in Keats Lane. The sound of their studs thundering down the concrete steps, and on the pavement, was deafening to a small child, and the smell of Wintergreen lingered on the air long after the team had passed by! I was always fascinated by the carved names, running around the base of the building, and later in my life, came to realize who these people were. Many of them were manufacturers, and great benefactors to the village.
Well done Brannon, the site is excellent. You are a great asset, not only to the Stute, but also to the village.

i think that the website is a very good idea as it provides alot of information about the snooker tournaments and also other activiteis at the stute.the web site also allows people of the past who used to come down to catch up on old times and see how the stute is improving which looks to me as it is forever getting stronger.

Thanks to the perseverance of your committee members I have been privileged to undertake the planning and overseeing of the latest upgrading of the STUTE. The continued investment in the social activities available at the STUTE need to be encouraged and applauded. During my short association with you I have seen many facets of the people involved either as members or as 'managers'. Please continue the development and investment as your contribution to the community is now and in the future really important. Please finalise the current revamp while the iron is hot, I will continue my support where and when required. Your members also need your support and encouragement.
Best wishes for your future. Mac Stowe.

I was born in Earl Shilton and can recall the stute when i was going to school, many a time we would stop for a game of billards or snooker before going to harrys picture house on saturday afternoon. I think it is a great place to spend a few hours, i wish i could drop in now for a game of snooker.

I love the site, and knowing the hard work and effort Brannon puts into it, So having a guest book gives people the chance to say well done Brannon, it is much appreciated so well done Brannon.
As for the site, the depth is great with something for all our members and allows for visitors to the site to get a feel for what we are all about. Like being able to take a tour of the building and get panaramic views of rooms. See how the snooker competitions unfold, find out about members who went onto bigger things in the World IE Norman Dagley (World Billiard Champion) see the ladies doing the fitness classes or just play a game or two.
Just pop in and come and take a look in person ;-

This Stute web site is full of interest for everyone with the history, photos and well researched stories by the Web-master. It's all good reading and shows that the Stute is keping up in the modern world.
Good luck for the future Angela.

I think the website is very good. it shows information, plans and photographs of the facilities and some of the activities. A comprehensive report on a recent Snooker tournament along with reports and photographs of the winners. It has a Local history section relating to the early days of the Stute, again with manuscripts reproduced, personal stories and lots of photos. The fact that the site has been put together and is still being developed by an old codger is amazing, it goes to prove that some people are never too old to learn and that they can and do share information and support our community.
well done that man!!!!!!

One of these days every thing will be perfect and if your web site is perfect you will have nothing to do.
