The Stute

The Social Institute was founded at the end of the 19th century to cater for the social needs of the young men of Earl Shilton.
Reconstituted in 1977 as a charity, it now serves as a social centre for the whole village and the surrounding area.

The society has now reached a remarkable point in its history. 100 years of service.

The start of the celebrations.

A great night with Mark Selby!

Mark shows how it should be done.
Although we rarely use nicknames 'The Jester from Leicester' really lived up to his.
Mark gave the members a first class evening of entertainment. Not only did he show how snooker can be played, but also showed a great talent of amusing friendliness.
Many jokes and frustration, to the referee, as he hid the cue ball and stole the ref's kit.

Nothing was too much bother, he continually posed for photographs and signed many of the members' snooker cues.

On behalf of the members the Management Committee expresses its grateful thanks to Mark for a wonderful evening and a great start to the 100th celebrations.
